As we are creeping toward the dawning of a new year, to some, a resolution to become one with is of extreme importance. For me, it begs the question, why?

Why set yourself up for failure?

Why convince yourself that success is at your fingertips?

Why pull others in on your misguided attempt?

Why challenge yourself toward achieving what you know is not achievable?

Why gear up for the big let down that is looming weeks ahead?

Why temporarily stop a bad habit or start a new good habit without the wherewithal to stick with it?

Come on, don’t look at this post as me being the big new year downer dude! If we were truly resolute about resolutions, then, success would be worth fighting for during the course of the resolution. According to the Oxford Dictionary resolute is defined as being admirably purposeful, determined, and unwavering. Resolution is defined as a firm decision to do or not to do something. I mean, come on, I can make a decision to do or not do something and be completely wavering on the purpose, drive, and determination to accomplish the intended result of the decision.

Ok, ok! It is of tremendous importance to challenge ourselves to reach higher planes in our lives and learn from the successes and failures.

The Bible tells us: Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest. Ecclesiastes 9:10

And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Colossians 3:23

And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:17

Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31

Simply, put, if a new year’s resolution is your cup of tea, go for it with your whole being! Run the race, finish the course! Be 100% successful! Encourage others to do the same! Surround yourself with those who encourage and those willing to advise with extreme prejudice and wisdom! Set your sights, goals, and resolutions on the Lord with a resolute heart and drive!

May 2018 be the best year you’ve ever experienced!
