Galatians 6:1 is a command given to us by the Lord whether we like it or not.
“Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.”
At least from my experience, Christians fail this very basic responsibility.
Why do Christians (used loosely) fail at the implementation of Galatians 6:1?
- We are full of faults ourselves and don’t want to risk light being shed on our blunders. Wow, that could break up our clique, inner-circle, piddly position in the church. Church politicians — Masters of cover-up
- Lack of spirituality
- Lack of the ability to restore or desire to receive restoration
- Full of weakness, not meekness
- Enjoys tampering with temptation
The pompous attitude of the high and mighty Christian will one day be shaken. We better be concerned that we ARE going to stand ALONE before the Great Judge during the Judgment Seat of Christ.
Rags and Vanity
Psalm 39:5 “Behold, thou hast made my days as an handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before thee: verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah.”
Isaiah 64:6 “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.”
Our best isn’t good enough. The best we have to offer are filthy rags. No matter how meek, mild, and pious we may be or how great and well-spoken of we are — filthy rags is the only offering available to God.
We may be little-known or have a name that, when spoken, sets social networking toward a flurry of retweets, likes, and shares. Filthy rags is all we have to offer a Holy God. HE must laugh at our meager attempts to please HIM.
God’s Word says, Job 22:3 “Is it any pleasure to the Almighty, that thou art righteous? or is it gain to him, that thou makest thy ways perfect?”
There is Hope!
We are all equally worthless aside from the Blood of Christ, and we are all equally priceless with the Blood of Christ.
Psalm 103: 12 “As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.”
Isaiah 43:25 “I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.”
Micah 7:18 “Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy.”
1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Goal
2 Corinthians 13:11 “Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of ONE MIND, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.”
