Spiritual Warfare

If you’re saved, you’ve experienced spiritual warfare. If you have not experienced a spiritual battle, you better check up!

For the past several years a spiritual battle has raged in my life. The battle’s intensity is increasing with an underlying call to either step out by faith or give up the fight. I know that giving up the fight isn’t an option and that stepping out by faith is a fearful decision.

The battle is more difficult because the lives of other Christians and the opinions of other Christians are stakeholders in my decision. You see, having God’s call on my life without the encouragement or help of the brethren makes for a discouraging approach which affects confidence. Yes, I know, my confidence should not be affected by man but enlightened by God.

Proverbs 3:26 – “For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.”

God has begun a work in me and this work shared with many Christians. However, no one has lifted a hand to make manifest my call. You may wonder why this is a problem. The support of the brethren is an encouraging boost and invaluable when it comes to usable wisdom.

Proverbs 11:14 – “Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.”

So, stepping out without the encouragement of the brethren isn’t my first choice. However, if it becomes necessary to follow the call by faith, I will do so. According to the Bible in Acts 5:29 “Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.”

Dear brother or sister let me caution you about the fiery darts of the devil. Oh, lucifer will even use the Word of God to divide the brethren. Be sure and study to show thyself approved, love the brethren, don’t put your faith in a denomination but in God. When we stand before the Lord Jesus Christ at the judgment, we will stand alone. Blaming someone else for your decisions or mine, not an option.

I am holding on to this promise, Philippians 1:6 “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:” Verse 7 “Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace.”

All partakers of Grace! Remember that, dear friend! Don’t allow man to stifle God’s call on your life.

Philippians 2:13 – “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure”

Let’s remember each other in prayer as we fight the good fight and lovingly conquer spiritual warfare with God’s unchanging hand.
